SCIAHK and SCIA Visited the School of Law, City University of Hong Kong

     On 23 February 2023, Mr. Xiaochun Liu, Executive Chairman of the Board of SCIAHK, President of SCIA and the delegation were invited to visit the School of Law of City University of Hong Kong and held a in-depth discussion with Mr. Feng Lin, Acting Dean; Mr. Michael Tsimplis, Professor; Mr. Peter Chan, Associate Professor; Mr. Christopher To, Adjunct Professor; Mr. Vod Chan, Adjunct Professor and Mr. Samuel Wong, Adjunct Professor. The two parties reviewed the accomplishments of the collaborations in practice and research of international arbitration in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in the past years. The parties also reached a consensus on the next step to foster the international arbitration talents and closer cooperation promoting "Shenzhen+Hong Kong" to become an international arbitration highland engaging the world.



 

     The School of Law of the City University of Hong Kong and SCIA have a close and good cooperative relationship. Mr. Peter Malanczuk, former Dean of School of Law, being the Council Member of SCIA since 2015 who has made great contributions to SCIA’s decision-making and rules-making. Mr. Julien Chaisse, Mr. Christopher Wing To, Mr. Jiangyu Wang, Mr. Minkang Gu, Mr. Wenwei Guan and other professors from the School of Law are the arbitrators in SCIA and playing an important role in resolving cross-border disputes and promoting the innovative development of international arbitration in the Greater Bay Area. Many outstanding graduates from the School of Law have done internships or worked in SCIA, and have become an important force in the development of international arbitration in the Greater Bay Area. On 12 October 2017, the City University of Hong Kong and the other two universities law schools in HK participated and witnessed the “Signing Ceremony of Renewed ‘Co-operative Arrangement on Legal Matters’ between Shenzhen Municipal Government and the Department of Justice of HKSAR and the seminar on New Arbitration Rules of SCIA”, and jointly promoted the opening of a new chapter of the international arbitration cooperation between Guangdong and Hong Kong.
