On 22 February 2023, Mr. Xiaochun Liu, Executive Chairman of the Board of SCIAHK, President of SCIA and the delegations were invited to visit the Faculty of Law of University of Hong Kong where they conducted a in-depth discussion with Mr. Hualing Fu, Dean, Faculty of Law; Ms. Shahla Ali, Associate Dean (International Affairs), Faculty of Law; Mr. Zhao Yun, Head, Department of Law on the development of the Faculty of Law, and the innovative practice of international arbitration in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The parties reached a consensus on integration of the international arbitration and academic research to foster the foreign legal talents in the Greater Bay Area.
The Faculty of Law and SCIA have a long-standing and close cooperative relationship. Ms. Shahla Ali, Mr. Xianchu Zhang, Mr. Zhao Yun, Ms. Weixia Gu and many other professors from the Faculty of Law are being the arbitrators in SCIA, and played an important role in hearing cross-border disputes and promoting the innovation and development of international arbitration in the Greater Bay Area. In addition, on 12 October 2017, the University of Hong Kong, Chinese University of Hong Kong and City University of Hong Kong participated in the “Signing Ceremony of Renewed ‘Co-operative Arrangement on Legal Matters’ between Shenzhen Municipal Government and the Department of Justice of HKSAR and the seminar on New Arbitration Rules of SCIA”. The Faculty of Law continues to contribute to the training of cross-jurisdiction legal talents and had served as the academic supporting organization for SCIA which organized FDI Moot Shenzhen Competition and brought teams to participate in the competition from 2021 to 2022. In 2021, the team ranked at First Prize of Team Performance Award and Honorable Mentioned Advocate of Individual Performance Award; in 2022, it ranked at Runner Up of Team Performance Award and Best Oralist of Individual Performance Award.
